Fosfomycin Sodium for Injection


FOSVIT for Injection is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is the injectable form of fosfomycin, and its primary uses include:


1. Treatment of Severe Infections:

   - Used in the treatment of severe bacterial infections, particularly those caused by multidrug-resistant organisms, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE), and certain strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.


2. Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs):

   - Effective in treating complicated UTIs, including those caused by resistant pathogens.


3. Bone and Joint Infections:

   - Used in the treatment of osteomyelitis, particularly when caused by resistant bacteria.


4. Respiratory Tract Infections:

   - Administered in cases of severe pneumonia, especially hospital-acquired or ventilator-associated pneumonia, caused by resistant bacteria.


5. Septicemia:

   - Employed in the management of sepsis, especially when it is caused by resistant bacteria.


6. Intra-abdominal Infections:

   - Effective against severe intra-abdominal infections, including peritonitis.


7. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:

   - Used to treat infections of the skin and soft tissues, particularly those involving resistant organisms.


FOSVIT  for Injection is generally used in hospital settings, especially for patients who require treatment for serious infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. It is administered intravenously under the guidance of a healthcare professional, and dosing is often adjusted based on the severity of the infection and the patient's renal function.
