Kanamycin Injection


KANVIT Injection is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Its primary uses include:


1. Serious Gram-Negative Infections:

   - Kanamycin is effective against a range of Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella species. It is used for treating infections such as complicated urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and intra-abdominal infections.


2. Tuberculosis:

   - Kanamycin is used as part of the treatment regimen for multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) when other first-line anti-tubercular drugs are not effective or suitable.


3. Infections in Immunocompromised Patients:

   - It is used for treating severe infections in patients with weakened immune systems, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from advanced HIV/AIDS.


4. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:

   - Kanamycin may be used for treating severe skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.


5. Preoperative Prophylaxis:

   - In certain cases, Kanamycin may be used preoperatively to prevent infections in patients undergoing surgery, especially in high-risk scenarios.
