N-Acetyl-Lcysteine Injection


N-Acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) injection is primarily used for:


1. Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) Overdose: NAC is the antidote for acetaminophen toxicity, helping to prevent liver damage by replenishing glutathione stores.

2. Mucolytic Agent: It is used to break down mucus in respiratory conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.

3. Nephroprotection: NAC may be administered to protect the kidneys from contrast-induced nephropathy during imaging procedures.


Note: Administration should be under medical supervision, considering possible allergic reactions and other side effects.
