Ranitidine Hydrochloride Injection

RANVIT injection is used for:

1. Treatment of Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers: It is used to treat active gastric and duodenal ulcers by reducing stomach acid production, which promotes healing and relieves pain.

2. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Ranitidine is used to treat GERD, a condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, causing heartburn and irritation.

3. Prevention and Treatment of Acid-Related Conditions: It is used to prevent and treat conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, where the stomach produces too much acid. It is also used in the prevention of stress ulcers in critically ill patients.

4. Management of Heartburn: Ranitidine is used for the relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach, particularly in patients who cannot take oral medications.

5. Prevention of Acid Aspiration During Surgery (Aspiration Pneumonitis): It is used preoperatively to reduce the risk of acid aspiration during anesthesia in surgical patients.

 Mechanism of Action:

RANVIT is an H2 receptor antagonist, meaning it blocks histamine H2 receptors in the stomach lining. Histamine is responsible for stimulating acid production in the stomach, so by blocking these receptors, ranitidine effectively reduces the amount of acid produced, helping to prevent and treat conditions associated with excessive stomach acid.
