Sodium Chloride Injection

SODAVIT injection is used for:

1. Fluid and Electrolyte Replacement: It is used to restore fluid and electrolyte balance in patients who are dehydrated or have lost fluids due to conditions such as vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, or burns.

2. Dilution of Medications: Sodium Chloride injection is often used as a diluent for intravenous medications, providing a sterile medium in which medications can be safely administered intravenously.

3. Maintenance of Blood Pressure and Volume: It is used to maintain blood pressure and blood volume in patients undergoing surgery, in cases of shock, or when there is a need for rapid volume expansion.

4. Wound Irrigation: It can be used for the irrigation of wounds, ensuring a sterile environment to prevent infection and promote healing.

5. Flushing IV Lines: Sodium Chloride injection is used to flush intravenous (IV) lines and catheters to keep them patent (open) and prevent blockage by clots or medication residue.

6. Hypotonic or Hypertonic Solutions: Depending on the concentration (e.g., 0.9% for isotonic, 0.45% for hypotonic, and 3% for hypertonic), Sodium Chloride injections can be used to manage specific electrolyte imbalances or to treat hyponatremia (low blood sodium levels).

 Mechanism of Action:

SODAVIT is a key component of extracellular fluid and is crucial for maintaining fluid balance, osmotic pressure, and electrolyte balance in the body. When administered intravenously, it helps replenish fluids and electrolytes, supports cellular function, and maintains blood pressure and volume.
