Palonosetron Hydrochloride Injection

PALONTIV injection is used for:

1. Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV): Palonosetron is commonly administered before chemotherapy to prevent both acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with moderately to highly emetogenic cancer treatments.

2. Prevention of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV): It is used to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery, particularly in patients who are at high risk of experiencing these symptoms.

 Mechanism of Action:

Palonosetron is a selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance in the body that can cause nausea and vomiting, particularly in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. Palonosetron is unique among 5-HT3 antagonists due to its long half-life and strong binding affinity, which allows it to provide prolonged protection against nausea and vomiting compared to other drugs in its class.
